Communion
Dear Father,
Thank You for another day here, a new day every day for You to ignite me! I pray that the light You ignite in me inspires others to seek more of You. I love You.
Today is a very foggy day. It has warmed up dramatically. There is snow melting everywhere. Looking out from my window, there is a wall of fog so thick that I can’t see anything in the distance. There is a wall of white. It is almost disorienting.
I saw a wonderful sign today. There were three Evening Grosbeaks in the feeding tray. According to folklore, Evening Grosbeaks represents the bridge between Heaven and Earth. To me, they are stunning examples of snippets of Heaven on Earth.
With my dream last night, Father, You called me to read Zephaniah. I barely ever read this. Maybe it just gets buried and lost because of Zechariah sounding so similar… smiles. When I read this today, I felt as if something seemed to be stirring in the supernatural realms.
As for my dream last night…
Sub-dream 1 “New Homes with Weird Black Spires” begins…
I was traveling with a real estate agent who was a celebrity in Portland OR when I worked as an Interior Designer in the 90s and early 2000s. She was driving me and my design assistant (whom I did not recognize) through a new development on the crest of a massive hill overlooking the Willamette River Valley. It was snow covered, which is somewhat unusual.
She was driving us up to look at another designer’s selections on a project as she was concerned his choices would cause delays in selling the home. As we drove up the hill, we saw easily eight or nine massive mansion-like homes being framed. However, I then noted something highly unusual. Each one of these homes had black spires as a prominent exterior feature. Some homes even had two or more of these spires.
Me: “Are these being built by the same builder?”
Real Estate Agent: “No. They are being built by two competing builders. One is Legend Homes and the other is Prodigal Builders.”
Me: “Why the spires?”
Real Estate Agent: “Both builders believe these will give them favor with God or something. They point to Heaven, so these are popular. Oh look… there is a house even you might be able to afford.”
I knew that she was being sarcastic at my expense, but I decided to not allow this to make me angry with her. I then looked over at the house she was pointing at. It was a small home on top of a two-car garage and a cupola with a spire on top of it.
Me: Replying in a pleasant tone. “Hmm, how do you know what I can afford?” I then became more serious. “Listen, this looks like it belongs to one of the larger homes. Regardless, I think these spires are ridiculous. They look out of place. The proportions are way off. All of these homes, even though they are large, are still just too small for the size of these spires that top each of them.”
Real Estate Agent: Again sarcastically. “Well, you probably couldn’t afford it anyway, dear, so relax.”
Me: I again didn’t let her comment bother me. “So, what home are you taking us to?”
Real Estate Agent: “Right here. Here we are.”
In front of us was this massive home. While it was vertically quite tall, it was confined to a small lot size. Once again, the top of the roof area had a large black spire. I then noticed that there were also several smaller black spires surrounding the large spire.
Me: “Are those smaller spires the big spire’s children hoping to get to Heaven?”
Real Estate Agent: In a biting tone. “Now, dear, keep your humor to yourself. You need to display decorum.”
The home was finished in all white except for these black spires and roof materials. There were also some black lanterns outside, along with a black door. While it did not look bad, it was just not as great as it was priced. In other words, I thought the home was overpriced.
Me: Addressing my assistant. “I am glad that my salvation is not contingent on me having one of these homes.”
Assistant: Both of us quietly laughing. “Yes, I agree.”
We walked inside this home. The home had dark wood paneling on the walls and ceiling and dark wood flooring. Over to the side was the designer’s selections and furnishings. They were all dark and did not fit the home at all. There was a team from Prodigal Builders there, as well as their designer. I went over to address them.
Me: “First off, the white exterior is bright and is a standout with the black spires. The green boxwood hedges, and some of the other accents that soften it, will be beautiful outside in the spring. However, the premise of the design architecturally is the spires as they represent aspirations for Heaven.
“This is like a bridge or a connection. You want to convey Heaven on Earth in this home like an extension. Outside, you have conveyed your passion, but inside… here… it is dark. There is no message of Heaven here. The inside should be like the outside and the outside should reflect what is inside.”
While the builder’s designer was now quite angry with me for pointing these things out, the builder agreed with everything I said.
Me: “So, what do you expect an interior in a Heavenly Home would be like? Anyone?”
Builder: “A bright light?”
Me: “Yes. Just paint the wall paneling and the ceiling paneling white. Make a stone veneer over the fireplace. As for the furnishings, these should be on a smaller scale in order for the place to appear larger. They should be light and airy with natural linens. While the lighting could be black iron, I am not sure what can be changed there.”
Builder’s designer: “This is ridiculous. What does she know?”
Real Estate Agent: “Well, she has been to Heaven and she is a designer.”
They were all stunned. They then started to ask a bunch of questions.
Me: “I can’t answer all of this right now, but do as I have said and I promise you good things.”
We left quickly as arguments were now breaking out.
Real Estate Agent: Yelling out to me. “Hey, if you want to build real Heavenly Homes here, I can bring in some investors.”
Me: Whispering to my assistant. “From here on out, say nothing back to them.”
We got into the car and drove down the hill. It soon became so steep that it was almost too dangerous for us to navigate.
Sub-dream 1 over…
I have never had a dream of black spires. What a strange group of homes.
Jesus: “Erin, come up!”
He once again spoke to me while I sat in my devotional chair. His Voice was very clear.
Jesus: “Erin, I am here. Man believes too often that they can find favor with God through symbolism, essentially creating their own altars. Whereas most miss the mark, the heart of one doing something in full measure pleases God.
“However, in this dream, spires or other architectural features gain you no special access to God. However, a beautiful church anywhere where two or more gather in My Name… well, I am in the midst of them. Now, what happens if I removed the church?”
Me: “Hmm, there would be no church?”
Jesus: “Well, yes, even though I would still be with those who gather in My Name no matter where they were or how they did this. While a church, a home, a room or even a chair is not the reason for Me to show up, it can be the catalyst that brings those who gather in My Name. One day soon, I will walk amongst you. You will see Me and we will talk and walk together.”
Me: “I can’t wait until I see You, Lord, and I can hug You. What a Great Day that will be! So many will be so very happy!”
Jesus: “Yes. There will be a day soon when all will change here. Don’t be afraid.”
Me: “I will try, Lord, but I can’t promise I won’t be afraid.”
Jesus: “Remember that the land must be prepared prior to rebuilding. It will be a difficult thing for many, so pray for the lost that they turn from ‘aspiring in spires’ to get them to Heaven and instead see Me as their Way of Salvation. I love You!”
