Dream 972 – Everything Will Change At Daybreak

Communion
Dear Father,
Thank You for one more day here! Thank You for being God! You are holy and righteous and You love us! I’m grateful for You! You are strong and mighty to save!
I’m sorry for resisting changes. Even when I hear You clearly tell me, “Do not worry, Erin, I am in this. I am with you. Breathe easy, I am here.” Major moves and uncertainty grips me with fear. Last time I lived here, eighteen years ago, we had lost everything and even our gas and power. I couldn’t survive and support one child, let alone three. I felt like such a failure. People who owed me money couldn’t pay me and in turn I couldn’t pay my obligations. My savings were gone. My valuables were sold or auctioned and the money used for rent and gas. I was scared. I had no more options. Then my heart stopped. The stress, the brokenness, my pride, all of it was exposed and my body–my heart–said, “Enough!”
I had reached the end of myself, yet things were about to become even worse. The enemy is an opportunist and when you are at your worst you become his target for further punishment. I was driven out of Bend in shame and headed off to the desert where I was punished severely but the Lord was with me. He had never left.
The rest is already in the books–my story from the place of my heart here to the desert, and then the land of the trees. Now here I am again for a do-over or new beginnings. These don’t come easily–there is a cost, and Father, I can never forget that without You I was broken and poor but with You I have everything.
I’m facing another week, maybe two, of things I have never had to face before. I look at my resources with lack and say, “Father, this is impossible, I am afraid, I can’t, what are we going to do?” There’s been a lot of PTSD from before stirring up. The ‘what if’’s, the ‘if only’’s, the doubts in the middle of all of this. I’m scared. In addition, I’m facing an upcoming surgery and a biopsy. Meanwhile I’m dealing with the Lord’s term, “blow back” with my son and change.
Three nights ago I had a dream…
Sub-dream 1 “Headwinds At Sea” begins…
I was sailing in a small wooden boat in a calm sea. There was just enough of a breeze to get back to shore but then the wind completely stopped. I was stuck and the sun beat down on me. So I tied up the sails and pulled out the oars to paddle into shore. I was having a tough time at it. There was an underlying current which I couldn’t see but I could sure feel it. This little boat wasn’t budging.
I had started sailing at dawn but now I had been at this a few hours and I was concerned that midday would turn to evening before long. I was alone and this was unfamiliar. The shore was too far to swim to. I kept using the oars so at least I wouldn’t drift further out to sea. After a while I realized I was in trouble, I felt abandoned and alone. I wondered what I did wrong, what I could’ve done better.
After the sun crept closer to the horizon, I resigned. I was exhausted and out of all options. I laid down in the boat and cried. I moved from self-action with no hope to surrendering all of this to God. (I must have been crying in my sleep as when I woke up, my pillow was soaked with tears.) I apologized to God in that boat for trying to be God over things I had no control over. The sun had gone down. I could see the shore in the distance.
Then suddenly, the breeze kicked up. I put up the sail but no matter what I did–even zigzagging across the waves–I was facing headwinds. They started small and became so strong that the ocean water seemed to sandblast my face. The waves grew higher and I became sick. I was dehydrated now and my strength was gone. I laid back down in the boat. I said out loud, “Only You can help me, Jesus!” Then the boat hit something. I sat up and realized I had somehow arrived on the sandy shore.
Over to my left was a fire someone had built. I was cold and tired, so I stepped out and walked over to warm myself. I thought I was a goner. I was so grateful to be on land. I called out, “Hello? Is someone here?” I sat next to the fire and put my knees to my chest and began to weep. It was a mix of joy and relief. Just then I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was the funny angel.
Angel: “Erin, you had been in trouble and God heard your cries. He brought you to the shore. Not on your own efforts. Not on your own strength. Not on your own provision. Nothing you did saved you, but God heard. You face great odds and gnarly headwinds but now you are here and you’re safe. Be joyful!”
Me: “Hey where were you–aren’t you my guardian?”
Angel: “Woah–this is God’s show. He calls me here or there. You can’t call out for angels to help you. I’d be cautious of what might come. No, you cry out to God and He commands angels to minister to you, understand?”
Me: “What might come?”
Angel: “A pretender and an enemy. So, go to God and the Lord will save you. Hot chocolate?” He had a coffee cup with a lid on it.
Me: I was laughing. “So, do you like go into a Starbucks and order a hot chocolate or does this just appear?”
Angel: “First, all angels of God don’t do commerce with the world unless we are under disguise. This is heavenly hot chocolate.”
I turned the cup and there was a silhouette of my horse with wings.
Angel: “That was his idea.”
I took a sip and I’ve never had hot chocolate like this. It was perfect.
Me: “Wow, amazing!”
Angel: “Now, you are going through personal troubles. These are not of your doing. You did nothing wrong. You started out on a beautiful day in perfect conditions.”
Me: “I did. I felt God calling me.”
Angel: “He did. But when things like conditions or headwinds became more than you could control, you became sick. You wrestled. You tried everything on your own to get out of what you had been placed in. It was like your own personal panic room situation. So, what did you learn here?”
Me: “My joy and comfort turned to panic and illness.”
Angel: “That’s what you got? You are missing the point here. The enemy has robbed you of your abilities in every category right now. You are scared but you didn’t do anything to deserve the punishment. You obeyed God. God restored you. He is not finished. He will give you back 100-fold more than the enemy stole from you. Do not worry. His promises are true, Erin. You are here. He will pay you back from the years you lost when the locusts stripped your fields. He has taken you from strength to strength and He will not stop. So, even when you see your situation in a Habakkuk moment, be joyful and thankful. Everything will change at daybreak.”
I looked toward the sea and dawn was approaching. I turned back and he was gone.
Sub-dream 1 over…
The next few days were difficult and yesterday would have been Jeff’s 60th birthday. I now know with everything God allowed this rental home as a interim receiving house to be a measure for change. He could’ve given us a home large enough for all of us but He didn’t, and I realize for good reason. Movers come on Tuesday and Wednesday and we still don’t have a place for my sons because one is fighting changes and refusing to even pack. Father, we need help. I need a miracle here. What I’m facing this week is almost too much for me and I need help! Please–this is a battle I’m surrendering to You. We need miracles. I should be excited.
The apartment we had reserved had been delayed another week from move in. When I spoke to the manager, she apologized. She disclosed that her five-year-old was in the class where the shooting had occurred and his best friend was killed along with his favorite teacher. Suddenly, none of my issues held much importance. She apologized and I said I was so sorry… I had no words at all. I thought I needed provision and miracles, but this… This was beyond not okay. I’ve been praying as this has been so heavy on my heart. I can’t imagine what this little five-year-old has seen. And his parents waiting at our church for any news about their children or if they were alive… I felt horrible and Father, I realize these little ones have seen things they could not unsee, but Father, You are our Healer, our Savior, and You deliver us. I ask for You to be with these little ones in Jesus mighty Name!
Help me to surrender my life to You. I was given the gift of a hearing aid recently–a used one, but it is amazing. Thank You! There are so many things to be thankful for in this life that You do for us every single day! Thank You. Please strengthen us for the days ahead!
Jesus: “I am here, Erin. I’m with you. Do not worry about so many things, even what you will wear or what you will need. Remember to look at the birds of the air. Do they look worried?”
Me: “No, Lord.”
Jesus: “Yet all things are provided for them. So, if God cares for these, won’t I always care for you, too? I know what you need before you even ask for it. All things and even some things you didn’t even know you needed. So what does worry bring you?”
Me: “Nothing, Lord, it makes my stomach sick.”
Jesus: “I have you. Did you think I would bring you this far to the place of your heart to desert you?”
Me: “No, Lord.”
Jesus: “We have history. I’ve never failed you. I provided a new home for you. Rejoice. The enemy wants to rob you of all hope and joy but I am here. He cannot rob you of My love. Now, you face headwinds you cannot navigate, on rough seas. You are unable, but I am able. Can you trust Me to provide for you?”
Me: “Yes, Lord.”
Jesus: “Then allow Me to carry you. I have you. I love you.”
